Frequenly Asked Questions (part 2)

I would like to volunteer but worry that I would not be fit enough for the job?

Beechley Stables RDA would be glad of any help which you can offer and we have previously had volunteers with both physical and learning disabilities who have been able to play a role at the stables; we have a variety of roles with which we require help  – if you do not wish to  work directly with the horses and riders then you may prefer to offer your services in a secretarial role or to help us with DIY, gardening or the all-important fundraising.

We just ask that our volunteers be enthusiastic, reliable and open to working with people with disabilities.

My son/daughter would like to volunteer – what is the age limit?

Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age to be covered by our insurance.  Please see our Volunteering page for further details.

If you are under the age of 14 then please think about other ways in which you may be able to get involved – perhaps you could consider adopting one of our ponies or maybe raising money by organising a sponsored event with your friends.  This is just as important as helping us by volunteering your time.

Do you offer able-bodied riding lessons as well?

Yes – we have children’s riding lessons on a Sunday for children and teenagers from the local community

Is there a waiting list?

Unfortunately due to the high demand for our services we currently have a long waiting list for lessons.  We are doing our best to increase our capacity and hope to be able to offer new rides shortly.

In the meantime, if you are interested in getting to know our horses and ponies then please have a look at the Children’s parties and ‘Own a Pony Days’ which we offer or consider volunteering at the stables.

Can I come along and watch?

You are more than welcome to come along to see our work for yourselves by coming to meet the horses – but please don’t feed them without asking us first.

Do you have horse manure which I could take for my garden?

That is one thing which we have plenty of!!  Come along to the stables during opening hours and you must supply your own containers.  The manure is available free of charge but any donation which you could make towards the work of the stables would be most gratefully received.
